How it actually works

Instagram scrambles the following list on purpose, so you can't tell what's new by scrolling. Katch the Ick saves a baseline of who they follow right now, then compares later snapshots to surface every new follow and follower going forward. It can't recover the dates of follows from before you started — no honest tool can — but from the moment you do, you catch everything.

On someone else's profile, the following list is relevance-ranked, not time-ranked, and it changes between visits. So a name near the top isn't necessarily new. Yes. You can preview the first several rows of any profile's followers and following for free. A one-time unlock (lifetime, no subscription) reveals the full lists.
Do I need to give it my Instagram password?+
No. Katch the Ick never asks for your password. It reads data through your own browser session after you log in to instagram.com normally, so every request uses your existing login — the same way the Instagram website does.
Will the person know I looked at their followers?+
No. Viewing a profile's follower or following list is not something Instagram notifies people about, and Katch the Ick never follows, likes or messages anyone. There is no trace on their end.
Can it show follows from before I started?+
No — and any tool claiming it can is not being honest. Instagram no longer exposes a stranger's follows in date order, so Katch the Ick saves a baseline of who they follow now and catches every new follow from the moment you start. It cannot reconstruct dates for follows that happened before that.
